Creative Designer Living Lab, PATH
Nelson Cheruiyot serves as a creative designer for PATH’s Living Lab portfolio. He oversees the human-centred design implementation to gain a deep understanding of users, promising prototype ideas, conduct usability testing, and engineer new products. This is to gather rapid feedback from key stakeholders and beneficiaries to strengthen motivation and engagement of frontline immunization health workers to drive increased vaccine coverage and for the prevention and management of postpartum hemorrhage. Prior to this role, Nelson served as the creative lead in the University of Nairobi’s Living Lab, overseeing design research, facilitating human centered workshops and bridging design prototypes to innovation schematics.
Nelson has over eight years in the field of design and is keen in continually seeking ways in which design can integrate with other fields to have a positive social and economic impact. While at the University of Nairobi, he implemented user-centered design practices with communities in Kibra (one of Kenya’s urban slums) and Machakos to understand the Energy-Health Nexus and find opportunities for sustainable transition from chemical to organic pesticides use for small scale farmers. Nelson has a Master of Arts in Design and is also a certified professional coach.
