Partnerships Director, International Rescue Committee
Since October 2019, Shane Scanlon has served as the IRC’s global Partnerships Director, a role that contributes to defining and delivering IRC’s strategy for local civil society, government and private sector actors, and fosters a coherent, coordinated ‘one IRC’ approach, including through the continued development of the IRC’s PEER System for partnership. In that role, Shane supports IRC offices globally to define and deliver on their partnership strategies, to build their internal capacity to partner effectively, and to use of PEERS in promoting principled, collaborative partnerships, including through in-country support.
Shane also continues to serve as the Middle East and North Africa Partnerships Director, a role that he has performed since February 2017, supporting country programs in the region to achieve their strategic ambitions with respect to local partnerships. During this period, Shane also co-led the development and rollout of IRC’s PEER System. Prior to that, Shane spent nine years working with the IRC in Thailand and Myanmar. He has also previously worked with IRC in Sudan and Geneva, and with the Red Cross in Colombia. Shane began his career as a lawyer and lives in Amman.
